Solitaire & Solitairescapes

Classic Solitaire is the most popular card game in the world and one of the most beloved card games of all time.

Solitaire is Tripledot’s longest-running game, and for good reason. Its timeless gameplay and familiar, comfortable player experience have created a highly engaged and loyal player base, with over 50 million downloads. When I joined the studio, Solitaire had recently launched, and I quickly began working on its first updates. I was responsible for designing and integrating the widescreen version, creating new UI and art assets, and reworking animations to enhance the sense of achievement after long gameplay sessions, keeping players engaged and coming back for more.

Continuous iteration

Over its long lifespan, Solitaire has gone through many iterative redesigns and tweaks to keep long-time players engaged while enhancing the experience for new players. Although some of these changes may seem minor—like adjustments to text size, card design clarity, or animations—each small improvement has a significant impact on the overall player experience, especially given the game’s tightly structured design.

Robust Player Testing

Solitaire has successfully maintained its loyal player base while attracting new ones through constant data analysis. This makes it crucial to continuously A/B test design changes and hold live player testing sessions to gather both quantitative and qualitative feedback. Even the smallest adjustments, like a slight redesign of the New Game icon, can have a significant impact on the overall player experience, creating a snowball effect that influences how players engage with the game.
