Quote is a beautifully twisted action role-playing game about cleansing the world of knowledge. Let nothing survive the purge.
I was responsible for shaping and maintaining a unique, high-quality visual style throughout the game's development. I created all 2D visuals, from concept art and character design to UI elements and hand-painted tile sets. In pre-production, I helped define the game’s aesthetic by designing characters, environments, weapons, and more. I also worked closely with 3D artists, providing detailed orthographics and animation sheets to bring these designs to life. Over the course of development, I hand-painted over 1,200 props and tiles, prepping them for in-game use. I collaborated with writers to develop the game’s lore and story, designed marketing materials, and co-directed two trailers, ensuring the visuals matched the excitement and tone of the game.

Concept Art
I spent a lot of time in pre-production creating concept art for many facets of the game in order to define its aesthetic. This included crafting distinctive in game characters, clothing, weaponry, environments, creatures, interiors, etc.
Prop and Environment Design
I created over 1,200 individually designed and hand painted props and tiles, and prepped the assets for in-engine use.
UI Design
The UI was carefully crafted to resemble 19th-century medical texts, giving the game a distinctive, twisted historical feel. In addition to this, I designed numerous icons and flat elements that were used throughout the game to complement the overall aesthetic.

- Kotaku : "The influence of of Umberto’s books is also evident in the work of lead artist Evan Lovejoy, whose character designs and and winding architecture take the late Renaissance and bend it under the weight of superstition and amnesia."
- PC Gamer : "Studio Ghibli meets Pan's Labyrinth meets Machinarium meets Monty Python vibes which, although a weird amalgam of zany inspirations, is in fact right up my street."
